Cancer Research Fund Says Many Women Putting Themselves
At Risk Of Cancer Due To Bulging Waistlines
The UK's Press Association (12/29) reports
that nearly "half of women are putting themselves at
risk of cancer due to their bulging waistlines, experts
have warned." While "excess body fat increases
the risk of all cancers," it "is strongly linked
to cancers of the bowel, pancreas, breast, and womb lining."
BBC News (12/29) reports that the warning, from the World
Cancer Research Fund, "is based on data from the Health
Survey for England suggesting 44% have a waist size exceeding
31.5 inches (80cm)." The UK's Guardian (12/29, Campbell)
also covers the story.
